Worry Worm

£7.95

A small, handmade companion for big worries

Sometimes it helps to have something comforting to hold when worries feel difficult to explain.

Each Ripples Worry Worm is handmade with care, creating a small and friendly companion that a child or young person can keep close during uncertain, upsetting or overwhelming moments.

A Worry Worm cannot make a difficult situation disappear, but it can offer a gentle focus for talking, listening and reassurance. A child can hold it, carry it in a pocket or keep it nearby as a reminder that they do not have to manage their worries alone.

Who could a Worry Worm support?

Worry Worms have been created primarily for children and young people, but they can provide comfort to people of different ages.

They may be particularly helpful for:

  • Children experiencing worry, fear or uncertainty

  • Children preparing for an appointment, treatment or unfamiliar experience

  • Children affected by illness within their family

  • Bereaved children and young people

  • Children finding change or separation difficult

  • Children who struggle to put their feelings into words

  • Children beginning school, moving class or facing another transition

  • Parents and carers looking for a gentle way to begin a conversation

  • Schools, family-support teams, hospices and healthcare settings

A Worry Worm can be introduced by a parent, carer or professional, allowing the child to decide how they would like to use it.

How could it be used?

There is no single right way to use a Worry Worm. A child might:

  • Hold it while talking about something that is worrying them

  • Tell the worm a worry that feels difficult to tell someone else

  • Keep it in a pocket, bag or beside their bed

  • Take it to an appointment or unfamiliar place

  • Use it as a comforting object during a difficult conversation

  • Hold or gently move it in their hands when feeling unsettled

  • Use it alongside the Ripples Calm Cards

  • Give it a name and create their own meaning or story around it

The Worry Worm is intended to open up possibilities rather than place pressure on a child to talk. Sometimes simply knowing it is there may be enough.

Handmade with care

Each Ripples Worry Worm is made by hand by one of our wonderful craft volunteers.

Because they are handmade, individual Worry Worms may vary slightly in colour, size and appearance. These small differences are part of what makes each one special.

Each order includes:

  • One handmade crochet Worry Worm

  • A Ripples of Compassion presentation or message card

  • [A small bag or other packaging, if included]

  • Standard delivery to a UK address

Available colours will depend on the materials donated and the Worry Worms currently in stock. Please choose your preferred colour. We will do our best to provide it, although colours may vary depending on availability.
