Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to run?
Not at all. You can walk, wheel, swim, cycle or choose an activity that feels right for you. You could also organise an event, take on a personal challenge or explore our A–Z Fundraising Ideas Guide for more inspiration.
Do you provide charity places?
As a small charity, we rarely have charity places in organised running events. Most people run for Ripples using a place they have secured themselves. Please tell us which event interests you and we will let you know if a suitable opportunity is available.
How do I create a fundraising page?
You can create a personalised fundraising page through JustGiving. Add a photograph, explain why you have chosen to support Ripples and set a realistic target. Feel free to share your page with us and we will help promote your event where we can.
Can I create my own challenge?
Absolutely. Your challenge can be as energetic, creative or personal as you would like. Choose something you will enjoy and can organise safely, then complete our short form to tell us what you are planning.
Do I receive a running vest?
We try to provide a Ripples running vest for all running challenge, subject to availability. Let us know your size when you complete the Run for Ripples form, and we will confirm what we can provide.
Can I run as part of a team?
Yes. You can run with friends, family, colleagues or members of your running club. You can fundraise together through one shared page or create individual pages, depending on what works best for your team and the event.
Is there a minimum fundraising target?
There is usually no minimum target when you organise your own challenge or secure your own event place. We encourage you to choose a target that feels realistic and motivating. If a particular opportunity has a minimum target, we will explain this before you commit.
Can I purchase a Ripples running vest?
If you are fundraising for us we can provide you a vest for free. But if you would like an additional one or aren’t fundraising but would like to support us while you run, you can order them from our online shop (subject to availability).
What support will I receive?
We can provide practical resources to help you plan and promote your fundraising, including our Fundraising Pack, A-Z Fundraising Ideas Guide, sponsorship form, social-media graphics and guidance on setting up your online page. As a small trustee-led charity, we cannot organise or supervise your event, but we will help you access the most relevant information.
Whatever challenge you choose…
Every step, every mile and every achievement helps create another ripple of compassion for families who need it most.
